Tourism Development Officers 

Tourism Development Officers are employed by North and South Lanarkshire Council. Officers can advise of available business support, liaise with other council departments and link into the Lanarkshire Tourism Association (LTA) and Visit Scotland. Officers can also provide guidance on national and local initiatives to increase visitor numbers and improve the quality of service provided.

Tourism Development Officers are members of the Area Tourism Partnership (ATP), attend meetings of the LTA and are responsible for the development and maintenance of, and is the main portal for tourism information in the area. The site receives around 330,000 visitors per annum and is supported by marketing campaigns and PR activity. Lanarkshire visitor attractions and accommodation providers can add their business to the site and also list any upcoming events.

Venues Lanarkshire is a business focused website offering venues for meetings conferences and team building events. Businesses can promote their own premises or use the site to looking for a suitable venue for an upcoming event or meeting.

Be Lanarkshire is an extensive training portal aimed at those working within Lanarkshire’s tourism and hospitality industry or any customer facing staff. The online programme is free and takes around two hours to complete, educates and tests participants on local knowledge and skills in customer service. Anyone can log on to register for module access.
