Getting Better

We feel that each and every one of us could get a little better, in some way or other, and so this section will be all about “Getting Better”.

If you are really comfortable and don’t feel that you have nothing to improve, then congratulations and you can move on to something else, if not,

The aim here is to provide content and information on things that can help, it is entirely up to you how you use it or share it, we just want to let everyone have the information to hand. Of course, we do not claim to have all of the answers, just some of the ideas that may work for you and your team, so please do use what works for you and of course, let us know your tips for getting better, as we are all in this together!

Healthy Working Lives

HWLOne of the first places to start could be the health and well being of yourself and your team at work and a great place to start looking is Healthy Working Lives, it has been around for a number of years and is run by NHS Scotland. If it wasn’t good enough that they provide information, inspiration and practical tools to help you get healthier, there is even an award scheme in place where you can earn a Bronze, Silver or Gold Award, how good is that!

HWL new homeThe website is https://www.healthyworkinglives.scot/Pages/default.aspx  and they have advisors who will come out to visit you and help with the work needed. A glance at some of the topics that they cover includes Mental Healthy, Ill Health and Absence, Risk Assessments and Managing Health & Safety.

Of course, all this information is all very well you may think, but what is the cost, as budgets are tight! Well, if we didn’t mention it earlier, it is all FREE! So, what are you waiting for, click on the link and in no time at all you will be able to create your workplace action plan to start the ball rolling.

TED Talks

TEDIf you have not yet heard of TED then please allow us to introduce you to them. TED is all about sharing great ideas, mostly done through short (around 10 to 15 mins) videos on a whole variety of subjects. Now, the topics do vary and you will can find the themes or speakers who give you the type of content that you like or that works for you. Of course they have an app where you can download videos to watch later, favourite ones you like etc., but the website itself is at https://www.ted.com/.

They have a real A to Y (nothing listed under Z at present) of topics covered at https://www.ted.com/topics and here are three of our current favourites that we thought were worth sharing – do get in touch if you have one that you think is worth sharing with others.

Pinterest

Our last source of inspiration is Pinterest – we find it great for all sorts of stuff that helps, like motivational quotes and ideas, practical health improvements such as why we should drink more water, how to make work easier or even just some nice pictures that are more enjoyable to look at than a spreadsheet!

So, our current three to share are as follows:

Future Events

Motivation – it always helps to get a bit each day

Habit

Time Management – how to make some of THE most valuable resource

20 tips time management

Productive – surely we could all learn a little from this

more productive

As we said at the start of this page, do feel free to share with us and everyone else your thoughts and ideas and suggestions, as by helping each other we all get a little better.
